“زيارة مفتي الجمهورية اللبنانية إلى دمشق: بداية مرحلة جديدة للعلاقات اللبنانية-السورية ونهاية التهميش السنّي؟”
في خطوة غير مسبوقة منذ سنوات، يستعد مفتي الجمهورية اللبنانية، الشيخ عبد اللطيف دريان، لزيارة العاصمة السورية دمشق غدًا، في خطوة محورية ذات دلالات قوية على الصعيدين الإقليمي والمحلي. تأتي هذه الزيارة في وقت حساس للغاية على المستويين السياسي والطائفي، مما يثير العديد من التساؤلات حول المستقبل المحتمل للعلاقات بين لبنان وسوريا.
من المقرر أن يلتقي الشيخ دريان الرئيس السوري أحمد الشرع، وهي الزيارة التي تحمل أهمية خاصة كونها قد تمهد الطريق لمرحلة جديدة من التعاون بين البلدين الشقيقين. في هذا السياق، أكد الشيخ علي الحسين أن “زيارة سماحة المفتي هي زيارة طبيعية إلى دولة شقيقة، وتُعد خطوة واعدة نحو التقارب بين لبنان وسوريا، خاصة أن مفتي الجمهورية هو رمز من رموز الاعتدال والوحدة في لبنان”.
وأشار الحسين إلى أن “هذه الزيارة، رغم تأخرها بسبب الظروف السياسية والأمنية التي مرّت بها المنطقة، هي بمثابة رسالة تحمل الكثير من الخير للبنان وسوريا معًا، وتشير إلى أن الشعبين يشتركان في مصير مشترك”. وأضاف: “الزيارة تحمل رسالة قوية مفادها أننا شعب واحد، وأننا نؤيد إعادة بناء سوريا الحديثة بقيادة الرئيس السوري أحمد الشرع”.
ورغم هذه الرسائل الإيجابية، لم تخلو الزيارة من بعض الانتقادات، حيث يرى البعض أن هناك مخاوف من عودة النفوذ السوري في لبنان. لكن الشيخ الحسين أشار إلى أن “من الطبيعي أن تظهر آراء مؤيدة وأخرى معارضة، لكن يجب ألا تؤثر هذه الآراء على مسار العلاقات بين البلدين”.
أما بالنسبة لوضع الطائفة السنية في لبنان وسوريا، فقد لفت الشيخ الحسين إلى “أن الطائفة السنية في كلا البلدين قد مرت بسنوات صعبة من التشتت والتهميش، ولا بد الآن من إعادة الاعتبار لهذا المكوّن الوطني الكبير”. وأكد ضرورة “إعادة تفعيل الدور الريادي للطائفة السنية في الحياة الوطنية اللبنانية والسورية”.
وفيما يتعلق بملف الموقوفين الإسلاميين، شدد الشيخ الحسين على ضرورة “إعادة النظر في هذا الملف، خاصة مع تغير الظروف السياسية. من غير المقبول أن يبقى العديد من الشباب موقوفين لمجرد تعاطفهم مع الثورة السورية”. وأضاف: “اليوم، ومع اعتراف المجتمع الدولي بسوريا كدولة، من المنطقي أن يُعاد فتح هذا الملف بشكل عادل”.
اختتم الشيخ الحسين حديثه بالدعوة إلى “إصدار عفو عام، ينهي هذه المرحلة ويُطلق صفحة جديدة من العدالة والإنصاف، تدعم الاستقرار وتُحسن وضع المواطنين”.
“Lebanese Mufti's Visit to Damascus: A New Chapter for Lebanese-Syrian Relations and the End of Sunni Marginalization?”
In an unprecedented move, Lebanese Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian is set to visit the Syrian capital, Damascus, tomorrow. This visit comes at a time of significant political and regional sensitivities, raising questions about the potential future of Lebanese-Syrian relations.
During his visit, Sheikh Derian will meet with Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara, marking a historic opportunity for strengthening bilateral ties. Sheikh Ali al-Hussein emphasized that “The visit of the Grand Mufti is a natural visit to a brotherly country, and it represents a promising step towards closer relations, especially since the Mufti of Lebanon is a symbol of moderation and unity.”
He pointed out that “Though delayed by the political and security challenges the region has faced, this visit is a positive signal for both Lebanon and Syria, reinforcing the idea that both nations share a common destiny.” He added: “This visit carries a strong message that we are one people, and we support the rebuilding of modern Syria under the leadership of President Ahmad al-Shara.”
Despite these positive signals, the visit has not been without criticism. Some fear that it might signal a return of Syrian influence in Lebanon. However, Sheikh al-Hussein noted that “it is natural to have both supportive and opposing views, but these differences should not obstruct the path of improving bilateral relations.”
Regarding the Sunni community's situation in Lebanon and Syria, Sheikh al-Hussein acknowledged that “The Sunni community in both countries has endured years of marginalization and fragmentation, and now is the time to restore this important national component.” He stressed the need to “revive the leadership role of the Sunni community in national life, both in Lebanon and Syria.”
On the issue of detained Islamists, Sheikh al-Hussein called for a reevaluation of the matter, stating that “It is unacceptable for many young people to remain imprisoned simply for sympathizing with the Syrian revolution.” He further explained: “Today, with the revolution having evolved into a state and many political and non-political figures visiting Syria, it is only logical that this issue be reopened judicially in a fair manner.”
He concluded by advocating for “a general amnesty to end this phase and usher in a new era of justice and fairness, ensuring the dignity of citizens and fostering stability.”
