In a major effort to curb crime in Lebanon, the Internal Security Forces issued a statement revealing details of an investigation into a network selling stolen motorbikes via Facebook. Following thorough investigations by the Beirut Judicial Police Division, it was discovered that B. A. (born 2003, Syrian) had purchased a stolen motorbike from a Facebook account named “Abo Adam”.
Further investigation led to the arrest of M. T. (born 2000, Syrian), the owner of the “Abo Adam” account, who was found to have a criminal record and was wanted for receiving stolen goods. Authorities managed to apprehend M. T. in Tariq Al-Jadeedah, where it was revealed that he had purchased 20 stolen motorbikes and resold them to various buyers, using forged registration papers obtained from another individual named Y. M. (born 1969, Lebanese).
A subsequent search led to the arrest of Y. M. in Haret Hreik, where a stolen motorbike and forged documents were recovered. Y. M. admitted to selling more than 17 forged registration papers to M. T., and also to selling similar papers to other individuals.
Based on court orders, the Internal Security Forces have circulated the image of M. T. (owner of the “Abo Adam” account on Facebook), urging anyone who may have fallen victim to his scams or recognized him to contact the Beirut Judicial Police Division or visit their offices to take the necessary legal actions.
