في مؤتمر صحافي مشترك في بغداد، أكد رئيس الجمهورية اللبنانية جوزاف عون ورئيس الوزراء العراقي محمد شياع السوداني على متانة العلاقات التاريخية بين لبنان والعراق، ودعوا إلى تفعيل التعاون الثنائي ضمن مصلحة عربية مشتركة تجمع بين السيادة الوطنية والتكامل الإقليمي.
وشدد السوداني على دعم العراق المستمر للبنان في مختلف المجالات، مجددًا التزام بلاده بدعم تنفيذ القرار الأممي 1701 للحفاظ على السلم والاستقرار في لبنان والمنطقة.
من جانبه، استهل الرئيس عون كلمته بتسليط الضوء على عمق الروابط التاريخية بين البلدين، مستذكرًا مسيرة طويلة تمتد من حمورابي إلى مدرسة الحقوق الأولى في بيروت، مؤكدًا أن آن الأوان لتحقيق أمرين أساسيين: حل الإشكالية الوطنية داخل لبنان، بناءً على خارطة طريق سماحة المرجع الديني علي السيستاني، والتي تدعو إلى تبني الكفاءة والنزاهة في المسؤوليات، ومنع التدخلات الخارجية، وحصر السلاح بيد الدولة، ومكافحة الفساد.
كما تحدث عون عن الحاجة الملحة لإنشاء نظام مصلحة عربية مشتركة قائم على تبادل المصالح والتنمية الاقتصادية، مع تفعيل سوق عربية مشتركة لتسهيل حركة الأشخاص والسلع والخدمات.
وختم عون بتقديم شكره العميق للعراق على دعمه المتواصل للبنان، مؤكدًا أن “الترياق من العراق” ليس مجرد شعار، بل واقع ملموس يدعم لبنان في أزماته.
“Aoun and Al-Sudani Affirm Strengthening Lebanon-Iraq Relations and Implementation of Al-Sistani’s National Roadmap”
In a joint press conference held in Baghdad, Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani emphasized the strong historical ties between Lebanon and Iraq, calling for activating bilateral cooperation within a shared Arab interest framework that balances national sovereignty and regional integration.
Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq’s continuous support for Lebanon across various sectors, reiterating his country’s commitment to fully implement UN Resolution 1701, which plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability in Lebanon and the region.
President Aoun opened his speech highlighting the deep-rooted historical connections, recalling the journey from Hammurabi to the first law school in Beirut. He stated that the time has come to achieve two fundamental goals: resolving Lebanon’s national identity issues based on the roadmap outlined by Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani, which advocates for adopting competence and integrity in responsibilities, preventing foreign interference, centralizing arms under state authority, and fighting corruption.
Aoun also emphasized the urgent need to establish a system of shared Arab interests based on mutual benefit and economic development, promoting a common Arab market facilitating the movement of people, goods, and services.
He concluded by expressing deep gratitude to Iraq for its continuous support, affirming that “the antidote comes from Iraq” is not just a saying but a tangible reality supporting Lebanon through its crises.
