دعا السيناتور الأميركي البارز ورئيس لجنة العلاقات الخارجية في مجلس الشيوخ، جيم ريش، الشعب اللبناني إلى اتخاذ خطوات جادة نحو إضعاف حزب الله والتخلص منه بشكل نهائي. تأتي هذه الدعوة في ظل الأزمات السياسية والاقتصادية التي يعاني منها لبنان، والتي أثرت سلباً على استقرار الدولة ومؤسساتها.
وفي تصريح خاص لصحيفة “الشرق الأوسط”، أكد ريش أن لبنان يمر بمرحلة حرجة جداً، مشيراً إلى أن النفوذ الإيراني الذي سيطر لعقود على القرار اللبناني بلغ نقطة حرجة تحتاج إلى إصلاحات جذرية. وأوضح أن هناك فرصة نادرة أمام اللبنانيين لتحرير بلادهم من هذا النفوذ.
وشدّد السيناتور الأميركي على ضرورة قيام الحكومة اللبنانية الجديدة بتنفيذ إصلاحات حقيقية تساهم في القضاء على الفساد المستشري في مؤسسات الدولة. كما نبه إلى أهمية إزالة الوجود المسلح وغير الشرعي لحزب الله من الساحة السياسية والأمنية، مؤكداً أن استمرار الدعم الدولي للبنان مرهون بالالتزام الصادق بالإصلاحات وليس بالقرارات الشكلية فقط.
وأشار ريش إلى أن السيطرة الحكومية الكاملة على المرافئ، المعابر الحدودية، الجمارك، المطار، والطرق البرية تمثل عنصراً حاسماً في استراتيجية محاصرة نفوذ حزب الله وإضعافه، وهو ما يمهد الطريق لاستعادة لبنان لقراره السيادي واستقلاله الكامل.
تأتي هذه الدعوة في وقت يبحث فيه لبنان عن مخرج من أزماته المتعددة، وسط دعم دولي مشروط بالإصلاح والمساءلة. ولا شك أن تحرر لبنان من هيمنة حزب الله سيكون علامة فارقة في استعادة الدولة وبناء مستقبل أكثر ازدهاراً لشعبها.

Prominent U.S. Senator and Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Jim Risch, has called on the Lebanese people to take decisive steps toward weakening Hezbollah and ultimately eliminating its influence. This call comes amid Lebanon’s prolonged political and economic crises that have severely impacted the country’s stability and institutions.
In an exclusive statement to Asharq Al-Awsat, Risch highlighted that Lebanon is facing a critical juncture, noting that decades of Iranian authoritarian dominance over Lebanese decision-making have reached a pivotal moment. He emphasized that Lebanese citizens now have a rare opportunity to break free from this external control.
The U.S. Senator stressed the necessity for Lebanon’s new government to implement real, substantive reforms aimed at eradicating the widespread corruption plaguing the state institutions. Furthermore, he warned about the urgent need to remove Hezbollah’s armed and illegal presence from Lebanon’s political and security spheres, stressing that continued international aid depends on genuine reform efforts rather than superficial promises.
