وصل الرئيس اللبناني جوزاف عون واللبنانية الأولى، السيدة نعمت عون، اليوم السبت إلى مدينة روما ليمثلا لبنان في القداس الحبري الأول للبابا لاون الرابع عشر، الذي سيُعقد غدًا في ساحة القديس بطرس في الفاتيكان.
وأكد الرئيس عون أن مشاركة لبنان في هذا الحدث ليست مجرد إجراء بروتوكولي، بل تمثل تأكيدًا حقيقيًا على عمق الروابط التاريخية والقوية التي تجمع لبنان بالكرسي الرسولي، مشدداً على أهمية هذه العلاقة في تعزيز الحوار والسلام.
وشدد الرئيس عون على أن لبنان، بتركيبه الطائفي المتنوع ومذهبه العريق، سيبقى ملتزمًا أكثر من أي وقت مضى برسالته التاريخية التي تدعو إلى الحرية والتعددية، مؤكدًا أن هذه القيم هي حجر الزاوية في بناء مجتمع مستقر ومتقدم.
وأضاف: “سيظل لبنان نموذجًا يُحتذى به عالميًا في مجال التعايش والاحترام المتبادل، مشيرًا إلى أن الحوار في لبنان ليس مجرد شعار بل هو مسيرة حقيقية تتطلب إرادة صلبة. جوهر هذه المسيرة هو التأكيد على أن الكرامة والعدالة والسلام هي حقوق أساسية لكل إنسان بغض النظر عن دينه أو هويته”.
وكان الرئيس عون واللبنانية الأولى قد غادرا مطار رفيق الحريري الدولي صباح اليوم متجهين إلى روما للمشاركة في هذا الحدث الديني العالمي الهام، في خطوة تعكس الدور المحوري للبنان على الساحة الدولية في دعم قيم الحرية والتنوع الديني.

President Joseph Aoun, accompanied by First Lady Naamat Aoun, arrived today in Rome to represent Lebanon at the inaugural papal mass of Pope Leo XIV, scheduled to take place tomorrow at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
President Aoun emphasized that Lebanon's participation is not merely a ceremonial protocol but a profound affirmation of the deep-rooted and historical ties binding Lebanon to the Holy See. This event underscores the strong relationship and the ongoing dialogue between Lebanon and the Vatican.
