أفادت مصادر لقناة “العربية” أنّ الموفد الأميركي توم برّاك ناقش مع رئيس الجمهورية العماد جوزاف عون، خلال لقائهما في بيروت، آلية تنفيذ قرار حصرية السلاح، في إطار الجهود الأميركية والدولية لدعم سيادة لبنان وتثبيت الأمن الداخلي.
وبحسب المصادر، أكّد برّاك للرئيس عون أنه سيطلب من إسرائيل الالتزام بمبدأ “خطوة بخطوة”، وهو ما يعكس سعي الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لضمان استقرار لبنان ومنع أي تصعيد محتمل في المنطقة.
وتأتي زيارة برّاك في ظل تصاعد النقاش الداخلي حول ملف حصرية السلاح بيد الدولة، حيث قد أجرى الموفد الأميركي سابقاً سلسلة لقاءات مع قيادات لبنانية، ناقش خلالها ملف ترسيم الحدود البحرية والبرية، وتثبيت وقف إطلاق النار على الحدود الجنوبية.
Berrak to Aoun: We Will Ask Israel to Commit “Step by Step” to Resolve the Arms Exclusivity Issue
Sources informed Al Arabiya Channel that U.S. envoy Tom Berrak discussed with President Michel Aoun, during their meeting in Beirut, the mechanism for implementing the decision of weapons exclusivity, within the framework of American and international efforts to support Lebanon's sovereignty and strengthen internal security.
According to sources, Berrak confirmed to President Aoun that he will ask Israel to commit to the “Step by Step” principle, which reflects the United States' effort to ensure Lebanon's stability and prevent any potential escalation in the region.
Berrak's visit comes amid escalating internal discussions regarding the issue of weapons exclusivity being in the hands of the state, as the U.S. envoy previously held a series of meetings with Lebanese leaders to discuss the demarcation of maritime and land borders and the establishment of a ceasefire on the southern borders.
