كشفت صحيفة معاريف الإسرائيلية ولأول مرة، عن أسرار ليلة الهجوم الإيراني الواسع على إسرائيل، من خلال شهادة بوعاز ليفي، الرئيس التنفيذي للصناعات الجوية الإسرائيلية وأحد العقول المطوّرة لمنظومة الدفاع الصاروخي “حيتس” منذ انطلاقتها.
وأوضح ليفي، خلال مؤتمر في جامعة تل أبيب، أن “ثلاثين عامًا من العمل اجتمعت في ليلة واحدة”، مشيرًا إلى أن الإيرانيين غيّروا قواعد المعركة المستقبلية عبر إطلاق عدد ضخم من الصواريخ الباليستية نحو مناطق سكنية في إسرائيل، في خطوة وصفها بالجرأة غير المسبوقة.
واستذكر ليفي لحظة تاريخية حين سأل الرئيس الأمريكي الأسبق رونالد ريغان مدير وحدة الصناعات الجوية آنذاك دوف رفيف عن إمكانية اعتراض صواريخ باليستية في الفضاء، فجاء الرد الشهير: “Yes we can”، والذي اعتبره يعكس الروح الإسرائيلية الجريئة.
وبيّن أن منظومة “حيتس” مرت بمراحل تطوير متسارعة؛ من “حيتس 1” التجريبي إلى “حيتس 2” القادر على اعتراض الصواريخ على ارتفاعات عالية، وصولًا إلى “حيتس 3” الأكثر تطورًا، والذي يجمع قدراته مع أنظمة دفاعية متعددة لحماية إسرائيل.
وأضاف أن المفاجأة ليلة الهجوم لم تكن في أداء المنظومة، بل في حجم الرشقات الصاروخية الإيرانية، مؤكدًا أن هذا النوع من الهجمات يفرض إعادة التفكير في استراتيجيات الدفاع الجوي، خاصة مع احتمالية ظهور هجمات مركبة تتضمن صواريخ باليستية، طائرات مسيرة، وأسراب من الدرونز.
وردًا على الانتقادات بشأن تكلفة أنظمة الاعتراض، أوضح ليفي أن المقارنة الصحيحة ليست مع ثمن الصاروخ المهاجم، بل مع حجم الخسائر المحتملة إذا أصاب هدفه، مشددًا على أن نصف طن من المتفجرات كافٍ لتدمير مبنى كامل.
واختتم ليفي بتأكيد مبدأين أساسيين لمواجهة التهديدات المقبلة: رفع مستوى طبقات الاعتراض، وعدم الاستهانة بالصواريخ الإيرانية الموجهة بدقة، مشيدًا بأداء منظومة “حيتس” في تلك الليلة.
For the First Time: Maariv Reveals Exclusive Details on the Iranian Attack Night and the Role of the Arrow Missile Defense System
Israeli newspaper Maariv has, for the first time, unveiled exclusive details about the night of the massive Iranian attack on Israel, based on the testimony of Boaz Levy, CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries and one of the original developers of the “Arrow” missile defense system.
Speaking at a Tel Aviv University conference, Levy stated that “thirty years of work came together in one night”, emphasizing that Iran changed the future face of warfare by launching a massive barrage of ballistic missiles towards Israeli population centers — an act he described as unprecedented boldness.
Levy recalled a historic moment when former U.S. President Ronald Reagan asked then-director Dov Raviv whether it was possible to intercept ballistic missiles in space. Raviv’s reply, “Yes we can”, symbolized the bold Israeli spirit behind the project.
He explained that the Arrow program evolved rapidly: from the experimental Arrow 1 to the operational Arrow 2 with high-altitude interception capabilities, and eventually to the advanced Arrow 3, which integrates with other defense systems to shield Israel from threats.
Levy noted that what surprised him most that night was not the system’s performance, but the sheer scale of the Iranian missile salvos. He warned that the future may bring combined attacks involving ballistic missiles, armed drones, and drone swarms, requiring new strategic thinking in air defense operations.
Addressing criticism over the high cost of interception systems, Levy stressed that the real comparison should be with the potential damage prevented, noting that half a ton of explosives can completely destroy a building.
Levy concluded by outlining two main principles for the future: raising interception layers to higher altitudes and never underestimating Iranian precision-guided missiles, while expressing satisfaction with the Arrow system’s performance during the attack.
