أعلن الموفد الأميركي إلى لبنان، توماس برّاك، عن وجود “فرصة سانحة” لتنفيذ مبدأ “حصرية السلاح” بيد المؤسسات الرسمية اللبنانية، وذلك قبل وصوله المرتقب إلى بيروت مطلع الأسبوع، لمتابعة مناقشة الرد اللبناني على الورقة الأميركية المطروحة.

ومن جهة أخرى، أفادت مصادر مطلعة ضمن اللجنة المكلفة بالرد بأنّ اتصالات محلية وإقليمية مكثفة تُبذل لتذليل العقبات. كما أشارت المصادر إلى وجود “تفاؤل مقبول” بإمكان التوصل إلى توافق لبناني حول هذه القضية الحساسة التي تهم أمن البلاد.

وفي تطور موازٍ، تعهد رئيس الجمهورية جوزيف عون، خلال لقائه مع وزير الخارجية البريطاني ديفيد لامي، أن “لا وجود لأي قوة مسلحة في الجنوب خارج إطار القوى الأمنية الشرعية و”اليونيفيل”. هذا التصريح يأتي في وقت حرج، حيث يسعى لبنان إلى الحفاظ على استقراره السياسي والأمني في وجه التحديات الداخلية والخارجية.
