تستعد مدينة زحلة غداً ليوم اقتراع حرّ يمثل محطة ديمقراطية هامة في تاريخ المدينة، حيث تؤكد ميريام سكاف، رئيسة الكتلة الشعبية، في منشور على حسابها الرسمي في فيسبوك، على ضرورة الحفاظ على وحدة المدينة وسلامها وسط التباين في الأصوات والآراء.
وأوضحت سكاف في منشورها: “غداً يوم اقتراع حر، والأهم فيه أن تظل زحلة دار سلام، حتى وإن اختلفنا بين صوت وصوت.” وأضافت: “كان حبيبنا إيلي سكاف يوصينا دوماً بعبارته الشهيرة: انتبهوا على زحلة. وفي صوتنا الأحد، سوف نستعيد هذه الوصايا، دون السماح لأي طرف باستخدام صيت إيلي سكاف وآدميته لكسر عضم الطرف الآخر.”
وشددت على أن “إيلي كان ضنيناً على المدينة في حياته، وهو كذلك في غيابه، وليس متاحاً للاعبين في أوراق انتخابية أن يوظفوا مساره الناصع في زواريب ودهاليز الاقتراع الديمقراطي.”
وختمت ميريام سكاف مؤكدة أن “ما يريده سكاف لو كان بيننا هو الحفاظ على مدينتنا وتجنيبها الصراعات للحفاظ تالياً على أجيالنا وأولادنا، وهذا واجب وليس أمراً اختيارياً.”

Skaff stated: “Tomorrow is a free voting day, and the most important thing is for Zahle to remain a city of peace, even if votes differ.” She added, “Our beloved Elie Skaff always advised us with his famous phrase: ‘Watch over Zahle.' On Sunday, our vote will revive this advice without allowing any party to exploit Elie Skaff's reputation and dignity to break the opposing side.”
She stressed, “Elie was protective of the city during his life, and he remains so in his absence. No electoral player should use his impeccable legacy in the corridors and back alleys of democratic voting.”
