جدل تاريخي وديني… “معاوية” يعود إلى الواجهة ويشعل الجدل!
مسلسل “معاوية” المقرر عرضه في رمضان 2025 أثار جدلًا واسعًا منذ الإعلان عن عودته بعد تأجيل دام عامين، حيث يتناول السيرة الذاتية لشخصية معاوية بن أبي سفيان، ويعرض أحداث فترة ما بعد مقتل الخليفة الثالث عثمان بن عفان وتولي علي بن أبي طالب الخلافة. المسلسل يعكس الصراعات السياسية التي نشأت بين الأطراف المختلفة والتي انتهت بقيام الدولة الأموية.
المسلسل يعرض باللغة العربية الفصحى، ويضم نخبة من أبرز الممثلين العرب مثل إياد نصار، ولجين إسماعيل، وسامر وأيمن زيدان، وسهير بن عمارة. تأليف السيناريست المصري خالد صلاح، وإخراج طارق العريان.
ورغم تكهنات عديدة حول مصير المسلسل، أكدت قناة “إم بي سي” السعودية عبر إعلان تشويقي أنها ستعرضه في رمضان 2025، ليضم مشاهد حروب وصراعات ملحمية مع استخدام تقنيات متطورة في الغرافيكس وتصميم الأزياء.
لكن توقيت الإعلان والطريقة المفاجئة التي تم بها الترويج للعمل أثارت موجة من الجدل على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي. البعض يرى في المسلسل إضافة قيمة للأعمال التاريخية العربية، بينما يعترض آخرون على تقديم شخصية مثيرة للجدل مثل معاوية بن أبي سفيان في عمل درامي.
الجدل حول شخصية معاوية ليس جديدًا، إذ تعتبر هذه الحقبة من أكثر الفترات إثارة للنقاش بين المؤرخين، ولا سيما في الخلاف بين السنة والشيعة حول معاوية، مما يجعل تناول هذه الشخصية في الدراما مثيرًا لحساسيات مذهبية.
الشيخ مقتدى الصدر كان من بين أبرز المعترضين، حيث وصف معاوية بـ “رأس الفتنة الطائفية”، محذرًا من أن عرض المسلسل قد يزيد من التوترات الطائفية. الباحث الإسلامي وجيه قانصوه أكد في حديثه أن الخلاف بين السنة والشيعة حول معاوية يتعلق برؤية كل طرف للتاريخ وكيفية توظيفه لأغراض سياسية.
الباحث محمد عبد الوهاب رفيقي يرى أن هذا الجدل يعكس “الهزيمة الحضارية” التي تعيشها بعض المجتمعات الإسلامية، حيث لا يزال التاريخ يلعب دورًا في تشكيل الصراعات المعاصرة. في المقابل، دافع رفيقي عن حرية الأعمال الفنية في تقديم الشخصيات التاريخية المختلفة، مشيرًا إلى ضرورة تجاوز القيود الدينية والسياسية.
كما أن قناة “الشعائر” الفضائية العراقية التابعة للمرجعية الشيرازية كانت قد أعلنت عن نيتها إنتاج فيلم حول شخصية “أبو لؤلؤة المجوسي”، قاتل الخليفة عمر بن الخطاب، في خطوة فُسرت على أنها رد مباشر على مسلسل “معاوية”. هذا الأمر أثار جدلاً إضافيًا، حيث اعتبره البعض زيادة في الاحتقان الطائفي.
الباحثون يدعون إلى ضرورة مراجعة تاريخية نقدية بعيدًا عن الانحيازات المذهبية، بحيث تُتاح للأعمال الفنية الحرية الكاملة في معالجة القضايا التاريخية، معتبرين أن أوروبا نجحت في تجاوز خلافاتها التاريخية عندما بدأوا ينظرون إلى الأحداث التاريخية في سياقها الزمني.
Historical and Religious Controversy… “Muawiyah” Returns to the Spotlight and Sparks Debate!
The series “Muawiyah,” scheduled for release during Ramadan 2025, has ignited widespread controversy since the announcement of its return after a two-year delay. The series portrays the life of Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan, depicting the events that followed the murder of the third caliph, Uthman ibn Affan, and the assumption of the caliphate by Ali ibn Abi Talib, along with the political struggles that led to the establishment of the Umayyad Caliphate.
The series will be presented in Modern Standard Arabic and features a group of prominent Arab actors, including Iyad Nassar, Lujain Ismail, Samer and Ayman Zidan, and Souheir Ben Ammar. It is written by Egyptian screenwriter Khaled Salah and directed by Tarek Al-Arian.
Although there were numerous speculations about the series' future, MBC Saudi Arabia confirmed its airing for Ramadan 2025, with a trailer showcasing epic battles and conflicts, enhanced by advanced graphics and costume designs.
However, the timing and sudden promotional campaign sparked a wave of controversy on social media. Some see the series as a valuable addition to Arab historical dramas, while others object to portraying a controversial figure like Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan in a dramatic context.
The controversy surrounding Muawiyah is not new, as this period remains one of the most debated among historians, especially due to the divide between Sunnis and Shias regarding Muawiyah, which makes any portrayal of him in drama a sensitive subject.
Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr was one of the most vocal critics, labeling Muawiyah as “the head of sectarian sedition,” warning that airing the series could increase sectarian tensions. Islamic researcher Wajih Qansou stated that the conflict between Sunnis and Shias over Muawiyah goes beyond just sectarian differences, touching upon how each side uses history for political purposes.
Researcher Mohamed Abdel Wahab Rafiki argued that this ongoing debate reflects “the civilizational defeat” of some Islamic societies, where history continues to play a role in shaping contemporary conflicts. On the other hand, Rafiki defended the freedom of artistic works to present historical figures from different perspectives, emphasizing the need to break free from religious and political restrictions.
Additionally, the Iraqi “Al-Sha'ira” satellite channel, affiliated with the Shirazi religious authority, announced in 2022 its intention to produce a film about the character of “Abu Lulu'ah,” the Persian assassin of Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab, which was seen as a direct response to the “Muawiyah” series. This move generated further controversy, as some saw it as exacerbating sectarian tensions.
Researchers advocate for a critical review of history, free from sectarian bias, allowing artistic works to approach these historical issues freely. They argue that Europe managed to overcome its historical conflicts by viewing events in their temporal context.
