وفي هذا الإطار، شدد رئيس مجلس النواب نبيه بري خلال اللقاء مع أورتاغوس على أن “إسرائيل شر مطلق”، مؤكدًا أن استمرار احتلالها للأراضي اللبنانية يتطلب مقاومته. وأضاف: “يجب على إدارتكم كضامنة للاتفاق أن تلزم إسرائيل بتطبيقه كاملاً”. وأكد على ضرورة إلزام الإدارة الأميركية إسرائيل بالانسحاب الكامل من الأراضي اللبنانية تطبيقًا للقرار الأممي 1701.

“Israel is an Absolute Evil… Nabih Berri to Ortagus: Resistance is Required!”
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri welcomed U.S. Middle East envoy Morgan Ortagus and her accompanying delegation at the second presidential palace in Ain al-Tineh. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam hosted Morgan Ortagus at his residence in Qoreitem, with the presence of U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Middle Eastern Affairs, Natasha Franchischi, and U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson. The meeting focused on U.S. support for Lebanon during this critical period, stressing the importance of implementing financial, judicial, and administrative reforms that form the core of the Prime Minister-designate's vision.
Support for Reforms in Lebanon:
Ortagus expressed hope for the swift formation of a government in Lebanon to address the economic and political challenges facing the country. In response, Salam emphasized the need for international pressure on Israel to ensure its complete withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territories by the scheduled deadline of February 18th, without delay or procrastination. He reaffirmed that this withdrawal is a national obligation and must be implemented according to international resolutions.
Enhancing International Cooperation:
The meeting also addressed ways to strengthen cooperation between Lebanon, the U.S., and the international community to help Lebanon overcome its economic crisis and achieve political and social stability amid the tense regional conditions.
