ساعر يطالب واشنطن بوقف عمل قوات اليونيفيل في لبنان: اتهامات بفشلها في ضبط حزب الله جنوب الليطاني
كشفت صحيفة “يسرائيل هيوم” العبرية أن وزير الخارجية الإسرائيلي جدعون ساعر وجّه رسالة رسمية إلى نظيره الأميركي ماركو روبيو، دعا فيها إلى وقف عمل قوات الأمم المتحدة المؤقتة في لبنان (اليونيفيل).
وبحسب الصحيفة، اعتبر ساعر أن اليونيفيل فشلت في تنفيذ مهمتها الأساسية، والمتمثلة في منع انتشار وتمركز حزب الله جنوب نهر الليطاني، مشيراً إلى أن استمرار وجودها في الجنوب لم يعد يحقق الأهداف المرجوة التي أنشئت من أجلها هذه القوة الدولية.
تأتي هذه المطالبات في وقت يشهد فيه الجنوب اللبناني توترات متصاعدة وخروقات إسرائيلية متكررة لاتفاق وقف إطلاق النار، ما يثير جدلاً سياسياً وأمنياً واسعاً حول مستقبل دور قوات اليونيفيل وتجديد ولايتها في مجلس الأمن الدولي.
ويُذكر أن قوات اليونيفيل تنتشر في لبنان منذ عام 1978، وتم تعزيز مهامها بعد حرب تموز 2006 بموجب القرار 1701، الذي ينص على وقف الأعمال القتالية بين حزب الله وإسرائيل، ودعم الجيش اللبناني في بسط سيطرته على الجنوب.
Israel’s Saar Urges Washington to End UNIFIL Mission in Lebanon, Citing Failure to Contain Hezbollah
Israeli daily Israel Hayom reported that Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has officially sent a letter to his U.S. counterpart Marco Rubio, urging the United States to end the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
According to the report, Saar argued that UNIFIL has failed in its primary mission, which is to prevent Hezbollah’s military presence and entrenchment south of the Litani River. He stressed that the continued presence of the UN peacekeeping force no longer serves the purpose for which it was originally established.
This development comes amid escalating tensions in South Lebanon, where Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement have been increasing. The debate over UNIFIL’s effectiveness and the future of its mandate renewal at the UN Security Council is growing more intense as the review date approaches.
UNIFIL has been deployed in Lebanon since 1978, with its mandate expanded after the 2006 Lebanon War under UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which called for a ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel and supported the deployment of the Lebanese Armed Forces in the south.
