In an official statement released today, Wednesday, by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division, details of a murder crime in Wadi al-Dalim, Zahle district, were revealed. According to initial information, (A. Sh.), a Syrian national born in 1984, was violently struck on the head by (R. A.), a Lebanese national born in 1977, in an unknown mountainous area on July 29, 2025.

The statement explained that the Zahle Judicial Patrol in the Judicial Police Unit received a detailed report about the incident and immediately began field procedures. Through extensive investigations, a well-planned ambush was set up, leading to the arrest of (R. A.) in the town of Qabb Elias. Simultaneously, the ex-wife of (R. A.), (G. J.), a Syrian national born in 1997, was arrested in Housh Barda, in the Baalbek district, just hours before she attempted to escape to Syrian territories.

The statement further revealed that the dispute between (R. A.) and (E. S.) with the victim stemmed from the disappearance of gold artifacts discovered during previous archaeological excavations around a year ago in one of the mountain areas. (A. Sh.) was suspected of having hidden the body, which was buried approximately 2 km from the crime scene in one of the pits that had been previously dug for archaeological digging.

Following the investigation, the body was found and retrieved. The investigation is still ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
