أكد البطريرك الماروني الكاردينال مار بشارة بطرس الراعي أن “لبنان ليس ذاهبًا إلى الزوال”، مشيرًا إلى أن “يدًا إلهية ترعاه، وإلا لكان قد تفكك”. جاء ذلك في لقاء إعلامي خاص نظمه المركز الكاثوليكي للإعلام في بكركي بمناسبة “اليوم العالمي الـ59 لوسائل الإعلام” والسنة اليوبيلية “الرجاء لا يخيب”.
وشدد الراعي في كلمته على أن “الواقع الدقيق للبنان يدعو إلى الحياد”، مستذكرًا أن هذا الطرح كان جزءًا من خطاب القسم لرئيس الجمهورية. ودعا الدول إلى دعم لبنان في سعيه لتحقيق الحياد الذي سيسهم في حماية استقراره الداخلي.
وفيما يتعلق بالاحتلال الإسرائيلي، أكد الراعي ضرورة انسحاب إسرائيل من الأراضي اللبنانية التي تحتلها، مشيرًا إلى أن هذا الانسحاب سيفتح الطريق أمام رئيس الجمهورية لتنفيذ خطوات جادة نحو نزع سلاح حزب الله. وأوضح أنه عندما يتمتع لبنان باستقرار اقتصادي وسياسي، سيكون لذلك مردود إيجابي على الجميع.
كما تطرق الراعي إلى الهجرة التي يعاني منها اللبنانيون من مختلف الطوائف بسبب غياب الفرص. وأكد أن شباب لبنان يثبتون أنفسهم في الخارج، على أمل أن يتمكنوا من العودة إلى وطنهم إذا تحسنت الظروف الاقتصادية.
ودعا البطريرك الراعي الإعلاميين والإعلاميات إلى أن يكونوا “ناقلي رجاء”، مشددًا على أهمية دور الإعلام في تعزيز الثقة بين المواطنين بدلاً من إثارة الخوف والشكوك. كما أكد على كلام البابا حول “ضرورة نزع سلاح الإعلام وتطهيره من كل روح عدوانية”.
Patriarch Raï: “Lebanon is Not Heading Towards Extinction” and Calls for Neutrality and Economic Stability
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Raï affirmed that “Lebanon is not heading towards extinction,” pointing out that “a divine hand watches over it, otherwise it would have disintegrated.” This statement was made during a special media meeting organized by the Catholic Media Center in Bkerke, on the occasion of the “59th World Media Day” and the Jubilee Year “Hope Does Not Disappoint.”
In his speech, Patriarch Raï emphasized that “the true reality of Lebanon calls for neutrality,” recalling that this proposal was part of the speech of the President of the Republic. He called on countries to support Lebanon in achieving neutrality, which he believes will contribute to safeguarding internal stability.
Regarding the Israeli occupation, Raï stressed the need for Israel to withdraw from the Lebanese territories it occupies, noting that such a withdrawal would pave the way for the President of the Republic to take serious steps towards disarming Hezbollah. He explained that when Lebanon enjoys economic and political stability, it will benefit everyone.
The patriarch also addressed the issue of emigration, which affects Lebanese people from all sects due to the lack of opportunities. He affirmed that Lebanese youth are proving themselves abroad, with hopes that the state will revive its economy so that young people can remain in their homeland.
Raï urged journalists to be “carriers of hope,” stressing the importance of media in building trust rather than spreading fear and doubt. He also echoed the Pope’s words regarding “the need to disarm the media and purify it from all forms of hostility.”
