Despite this, there is still concern about potential Israeli escalation that could disrupt Lebanon’s steps toward recovery.
Neutral observers note that this optimism isn't merely a product of political propaganda or local interests but stems from real developments within the country, including the gradual restoration of trust both domestically and internationally. One key development is the ongoing indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran, which may pave the way for agreements that could directly influence the region’s crises. However, despite these efforts, Israel continues to act in ways that affect the course of events, showing reservations about the negotiations, which has fueled political tensions, especially with statements from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Recently, Israel escalated military operations in southern Lebanon, which many analysts believe is part of a strategy to pressure the White House’s efforts to ease tensions. This escalation comes amid intense diplomatic efforts between Beirut, Washington, Paris, and key Arab states to avoid a large-scale security breakdown that could undermine Lebanon's economic recovery after years of collapse.
These efforts coincide with expectations of a boost in tourism this summer, which will likely have a positive impact on Lebanon’s economy. This boost could gradually help restore some of the trust that Lebanon lost after its prolonged crises.
Despite this, the optimists argue that the gradual improvement in Lebanon’s situation is not automatic and will require joint efforts between the public and private sectors to improve service levels and encourage economic growth. However, the unknown Israeli threats remain the decisive factor for the country's stability. If the region doesn’t face any unexpected surprises, the situation could continue to improve steadily, despite lingering security doubts in some areas.
Much of this optimism is also attributed to the election of General Joseph Aoun as president, which has provided a positive image for Lebanon's political future, helping to restore trust among the Lebanese people. The big question, however, remains: will the United States succeed in convincing Israel to de-escalate, or will Israel continue to pose a threat to Lebanon's stability?
