فقد حزب الله السيطرة على العديد من المناطق الرئيسية مثل تدمر، القصير، والبوكمال شرقًا، وهي نقاط عبور حيوية بين سوريا ولبنان. في الوقت ذاته، تسعى إيران للحفاظ على خطوط إمدادها وزعزعة استقرار الحكومة السورية الجديدة برئاسة أحمد الشرع، وفقًا لما ذكره مسؤولون أمنيون في أوروبا والمنطقة.
تعرضت الهيمنة الإيرانية على هذه الممرات الاستراتيجية لانتكاسة كبيرة، خاصة بعد تعرض حزب الله لهجوم مركز من الجيش الإسرائيلي في لبنان. رغم ذلك، يواصل الحزب محاولاته لتجديد مخزوناته من الأسلحة وجمع الأموال لتعويض خسائره في لبنان.
وذكر قائد ميداني في القوات السورية أن الحكومة السورية تسعى لقطع طرق التهريب عبر الاشتباكات الدامية. وكان من بين هذه الاشتباكات العنيفة الشهر الماضي، حيث نفذ الجيش اللبناني عمليات قصف ردًا على قصف داخل أراضيه، وهو ما نفى حزب الله المشاركة فيه. وتعتبر المنطقة المحيطة بالحدود اللبنانية نقطة حيوية لحزب الله، حيث استخدمها مركزًا لتصنيع المخدرات وعبور الأسلحة والعناصر المقاتلة.
وأشار التقرير إلى أن قوات الحكومة السورية قد اكتشفت 15 مصنعًا لتصنيع الكبتاغون في القرى الحدودية، وهي تجارة استفاد منها كل من نظام الأسد. وقدّر مسؤولون محليون قيمة هذه التجارة بعشرات الملايين من الدولارات.
في القصير، التي تبعد فقط عشرة كيلومترات عن الحدود اللبنانية، تحولت المنطقة الصناعية إلى مخزن ضخم للأسلحة. وقد دمر القصف الإسرائيلي نوافذ المباني واكتشفت صناديق ذخيرة داخل هذه المنشآت.
ورغم هذه التحديات، لا تزال شبكات إيران، وخاصة المرتبطة بحزب الله، نشطة في سوريا. وأعلنت الحكومة السورية الجديدة عن اعتراض أكثر من 12 شحنة متجهة إلى لبنان. وكانت إحدى العمليات الأمنية التي أُعلن عنها في يناير قد أسفرت عن اكتشاف صناديق طائرات مسيرة مخبأة في شاحنة محملة بأعلاف الحيوانات.
أضاف التقرير أن حزب الله يمتلك مخزونًا ضخمًا من الأسلحة في سوريا، ويعمل على نقله عبر الشبكات السورية المتاحة، مما يزيد تعقيد الوضع الأمني في المنطقة.
Syrian Campaign to Cut Hezbollah’s Smuggling Routes Between Qusair and Al-Bukamal: A Shift in Iranian Influence
The new Syrian government forces are tightening control over the smuggling routes that cross the rugged border with Lebanon, which stretches across 375 kilometers. These routes have long been used by Iran and Hezbollah for transporting weapons, money, and fuel.
According to a report published by the Washington Post, recent developments have significantly changed the situation. The report stated, “After Syrian factions overthrew President Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December, Iranian forces and their ally Hezbollah found themselves in a very difficult position.”
Hezbollah lost control over several key areas such as Tadmor, Qusair, and Al-Bukamal in the east, which are vital crossing points between Syria and Lebanon. At the same time, Iran is seeking to maintain its supply lines and destabilize the new Syrian government under Ahmad al-Shara, according to security officials in Europe and the region.
Iran's dominance over these strategic corridors has suffered a major setback, especially after Hezbollah was targeted in a focused attack by the Israeli army in Lebanon. Nevertheless, Hezbollah continues its efforts to replenish its weapon stockpiles and raise funds to offset its losses in Lebanon.
A field commander in the Syrian government forces stated that the Syrian government is attempting to cut off the smuggling routes through intense clashes. Among the most severe clashes took place last month, where the Lebanese army carried out airstrikes in response to shelling within its territory, which Hezbollah denied involvement in. The area around the Lebanese border is crucial for Hezbollah, which has used it as a center for drug manufacturing and the smuggling of weapons and combatants.
The report also noted that Syrian government forces have discovered 15 Captagon manufacturing factories in the border villages, a trade that has benefited both the Assad regime. Local officials have estimated the value of this trade to be in the tens of millions of dollars.
In Qusair, located only ten kilometers from the Lebanese border, the industrial area has turned into a massive weapons storage depot. Israeli airstrikes shattered the windows of the buildings, and boxes of ammunition were discovered inside these facilities.
Despite these challenges, Iranian-linked networks, particularly those connected to Hezbollah, remain active in Syria. The new Syrian government reported intercepting over 12 shipments heading to Lebanon. One of the security operations announced in January led to the discovery of drone parts hidden in a truck loaded with animal feed.
The report concluded that Hezbollah holds a vast weapons stockpile in Syria and continues to transport it via the available Syrian networks, further complicating the security situation in the region.
