تلميح أميركي بانضمام لبنان إلى الاتفاقات مع إسرائيل
أفادت القناة 12 الإسرائيلية، اليوم الأربعاء، بأن ستيف ويتكوف، المبعوث الأميركي للرئيس دونالد ترامب إلى الشرق الأوسط، ألمح إلى إمكانية انضمام لبنان إلى مسار الاتفاقات مع إسرائيل، مشيراً إلى احتمال أن تتبع سوريا نفس الخطوة في المستقبل.
وفي هذا السياق، كان قد أعلن ويتكوف، يوم أمس الثلاثاء، أن وفداً إسرائيلياً غادر للمشاركة في مفاوضات المرحلة الثانية من اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار في غزة، مؤكداً استعداده للمشاركة شخصياً في هذه المفاوضات عند الحاجة.
يأتي هذا الإعلان بعد أن توصلت إسرائيل وحماس إلى اتفاق يقضي بإطلاق إسرائيل سراح جميع الأسرى الفلسطينيين الذين كان مقرراً أن تفرج عنهم الأسبوع الماضي، مقابل أن تسلم حركة حماس جثث أربعة رهائن إسرائيليين.
وخلال فعالية في واشنطن، يوم الثلاثاء، شدد ويتكوف على استعداده للسفر بسرعة إلى الشرق الأوسط، حيث تنتهي يوم السبت المقبل الأول من آذار، المرحلة الأولى من الهدنة السارية بين إسرائيل وحماس.
وخلال الفعالية التي نظمتها “اللجنة اليهودية الأميركية”، قال المبعوث الأميركي: “نحن نحقق تقدماً كبيراً. إسرائيل ترسل فريقاً في الوقت الذي نتحدث فيه”. وأضاف: “إما أنهم سيذهبون إلى الدوحة أو إلى القاهرة، حيث ستبدأ المفاوضات من جديد مع المصريين والقطريين الذين يشاركون مع الولايات المتحدة في الوساطة بين إسرائيل وحماس”.
وأكد ويتكوف أن هذه المحادثات الجديدة تهدف إلى “المضي قدماً في المرحلة الثانية، والتوصل لإطلاق سراح المزيد من الرهائن”، مضيفاً: “نعتقد أن هذا احتمال حقيقي”. وأوضح أنه قد ينضم إلى هذه المفاوضات يوم الأحد “إذا ما سارت الأمور على ما يرام”.
وكان المبعوث الخاص لترامب قد أكد في وقت سابق أنه سيتوجه إلى المنطقة هذا الأسبوع.
US Hints at Lebanon Joining Agreements with Israel
Israeli Channel 12 reported on Wednesday that Steve Whitkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy to the Middle East, suggested the possibility of Lebanon joining the agreements with Israel, with the potential for Syria to follow suit in the future.
In a related context, Whitkoff announced on Tuesday that an Israeli delegation had left to participate in the second phase of ceasefire talks in Gaza, confirming his readiness to participate personally in the negotiations if necessary.
This announcement comes after Israel and Hamas reached an agreement whereby Israel would release all Palestinian prisoners that were supposed to be freed last week in exchange for Hamas handing over the bodies of four Israeli hostages.
During an event in Washington on Tuesday, Whitkoff emphasized his readiness to travel quickly to the Middle East, where the first phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is set to end on Saturday, March 1.
During the event, organized by the “American Jewish Committee,” the U.S. envoy said, “We are making significant progress. Israel is sending a team while we are speaking.” He added, “They will either go to Doha or Cairo, where negotiations will begin again with the Egyptians and Qataris, who are involved alongside the U.S. in mediating between Israel and Hamas.”
Whitkoff confirmed that these new talks aim to “move forward with the second phase, and secure the release of more hostages,” adding, “We believe this is a real possibility.” He explained that he might join these negotiations on Sunday “if things go well.”
The special envoy for Trump had earlier confirmed that he would be heading to the region this week.
