أطلق الجيش الإسرائيلي إسم “سهام الشمال” على العملية العسكرية التي تشنّها طائراتها في لبنان، فاتحة صفحة جديدة من الإجرام والقتل والدم والتدمير والتهجير.
ولطالما أطلق الاسرائيليون أسماء رمزية على عملياتهم العسكرية على الأراضي اللبنانية، منذ الاجتياح الأول في 14 آذار عام 1978.
ونفّذ ذلك الاجتياح تحت إسم “عملية الليطاني”، والتي أعلنت إسرائيل أن الهدف منها حماية مناطقها الشمالية من هجمات مقاتلي منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية.
كذلك اجتاحت لبنان في 6 حزيران 1982 تحت إسم عملية “سلامة الجليل”، ووصلت قواتها الغازية الى العاصمة بيروت وحاصرتها لمدة شهرين، قبل أن تُخرج منها قوات منظمة التحرير الفلسطينية وقيادتها وفي مقدمها رئيس اللجنة التنفيذية ياسر عرفات.
وفي 25 تموز 1993، شنّت إسرائيل هجوماً كبيراً في الجنوب استهدف حزب الله، إثر هجمات مع مجموعات فلسطينية. وسمّت عمليتها “يوم الحساب” التي أوقعت كسابقاتها، مئات الضحايا وتسببت بنزوح مئات آلاف اللبنانيين.
وفي 11 نيسان عام 1996، أعلن الجيش الاسرائيلي تنفيذ عملية “عناقيد الغضب” ضد القوة العسكرية لـ”حزب الله”، والتي أوقعت مئات بين قتلى وجرحى، وتسبّبت بمجزرة قانا حيث سقط بقصف مدفعي مركّز 105 مدنيين كانوا بين زهاء 800 نازح مدني، لجأوا الى مقر الكتيبة الفيجية للإحتماء بعلم الأمم المتحدة.
أما في 12 تموز 2006، فقد تمكّن “حزب الله” من أسر جنود إسرائيليين مطلقاً على العملية إسم “الوعد الصادق”. بينما سميت العملية العسكرية الإسرائيلية لتحرير الجنديين عملية “الثواب العادل”.

From “Operation Litani” to “Northern Arrows”… 46 Years of Bloody Aggressions
The Israeli military has named its current operation in Lebanon “Northern Arrows,” marking another chapter of bloodshed, destruction, and displacement.
Israel has a long history of assigning symbolic names to its military operations in Lebanon, starting with its first invasion on March 14, 1978, known as “Operation Litani.” Israel claimed that the goal was to protect its northern regions from attacks by Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) fighters.
On June 6, 1982, Israel invaded Lebanon again, naming it “Operation Peace for Galilee.” The Israeli forces reached the capital, Beirut, and laid siege to the city for two months before forcing the withdrawal of PLO forces, led by Yasser Arafat.
On July 25, 1993, Israel launched another major assault targeting Hezbollah after clashes with Palestinian groups, naming the operation “Operation Accountability.” Like its predecessors, this assault caused hundreds of casualties and forced hundreds of thousands of Lebanese to flee.
On April 11, 1996, the Israeli army launched “Operation Grapes of Wrath” against Hezbollah, which resulted in hundreds of dead and wounded. The operation also led to the infamous Qana massacre, where 105 civilians were killed by Israeli artillery while seeking refuge under the protection of the UN flag.
Finally, on July 12, 2006, Hezbollah captured Israeli soldiers, naming their operation “True Promise,” while Israel named its military response to recover the soldiers “Operation Just Reward.”
