Amel Association International (Amel) is a Lebanese and non-sectarian NGO created in 1979. Amel works through 27 centers, 6 mobile medical units, 2 mobile education units and 1 protection unit, and for more than 40 years has supported the poorest regions of Lebanon, from Beirut and its South Suburbs to Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and South Lebanon. Amel offers accessible services for all in the following fields: food security, health, education, protection, child protection, gender-based violence, livelihood, promotion and protection of human rights, rural development.

Under the direct supervision of the health project coordinator, the nurse is responsible of providing nursing care, treatment and follow-up, according to doctors’ prescriptions. Applied all the hygiene standards and precautions in order to ensure the quality and the continuity of health care for all the patients. The main role is to asses, diagnose, plan and share the plan of care with the physicians and intervene appropriately.  

The nurse works within the Amel International Foundation team in the primary health care center, or the mobile clinic, according to the instructions of the center's official, the program coordinator, and complies with the requirements of the donor.

Main Responsibilities:

• Providing primary care to patients.
• Performing initial examinations, including physical exams and patient observations.
• Setting up and monitoring medical equipment
• Administering diagnostic tests.
• Communicating test results to patients and their families.
• Recording patient medical histories.
• Operating and maintaining medical equipment.
• Follow the prescription of the Doctor in charge.
• Participation in the preparation of the trainings and the educational programs and activities.
• Assessing the patients who attend the center without prior appointment during the screening process (triage)

Follow up vaccination services:

• Attention to the quality of refrigeration and preservation.
• Giving the appropriate vaccination for the appropriate age, based on the Ministry of Health calendar, during vaccination campaigns that include villages and towns adjacent to the center.
• fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc. ensuring an appropriate written/oral handover, and reporting any problematic situations and cases that may arise. Participating in data collection and keeping doctors/supervisors informed.
• Assists clients in finding resources to meet needs and makes referrals for services as Appropriate.
• Enhancing the primary health care goals adopted by the center (compliance with policies and procedures, patient-centered health care, improving the quality of performance and services, patient satisfaction, service excellence, staff efficiency, etc.).
• Participate in the social health awareness program held by the center.
• Networking: building good relationships with the local community, and with relevant organizations and population.

EDUCATION DEGREE DETAILS:

• A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Holds a license to practice the profession of nursing from the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon
• Member of the Syndicate of Nurses in Lebanon
• Experience with NGO is a plus.
• Computer Literacy-Microsoft office –all applications
• Good communication skills

• The ability to provide accurate, effective care in stressful situations.
• Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
• The applicant must have experience in primary healthcare center
