Content Creator

Job Overview

As a Content Creator on a part-time basis, you will be responsible for researching industry-related topics, brainstorming video ideas, writing video scripts, coordinating with the media unit, and creating engaging content for our social media platforms. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and have a strong understanding of multimedia production and social media trends in the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region.

Responsibilities

• Research industry-related topics and gather relevant information from articles and other sources to guide our content creation endeavors.
• Brainstorm video ideas in collaboration with the Communications team that effectively communicate our message and engage our audience.
• Write video scripts according to multimedia producer guidelines and proofread them with the Editorial team.
• Coordinate with the media team on all content-related materials to ensure smooth integration of content across all platforms and channels.
• Work closely with the communication manager and social media officer to ensure that content strategies are aligned with our organizational objectives.
• Provide regular updates to the Communication Manager on content creation activities and performance metrics.
• Generate a minimum of 3 high-quality videos per month tailored for TikTok and Instagram (reels), while upholding the SMEX brand's tone and style guidelines.
• Ensure that content  is tailored to specific audience segments, leveraging trending topics and current events to maximize engagement and reach.
• Represent SMEX in videos while also considering other individuals as representatives as well depending on the content.
• Attend editorial meetings to stay up-to-date on company developments and content strategies.
• Maintain the consistency and integrity of the organization's brand in all social media activities.
• Stay updated with the latest social media trends, algorithms, and best practices to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of digital engagement.

Qualifications

• Having obtained or pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, IT, computer science or any related field.
• Proven experience in content creation, preferably in a digital media environment.
• Understanding of the digital rights environment in the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region.
• Familiarity with SMEX's core work and a shared commitment to human rights values, including privacy, users’ rights, digital surveillance, data protection, freedom of expression, accessibility, open culture, etc.
• Strong English and Arabic writing and editing skills.
• Proficiency in social media software and tools.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and trends.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
