MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of MdM Outreach Officer of bekaa , the Rapid Response Team Nurse will be responsible for a comprehensive alert-response strategy that includes multiple layers of engagement with individuals, households, communities, and referral to healthcare facilities, providing a wide range of complementary actions to support the control and prevention of epidemic in the intervention area.
TASKS DESCRIPTION
- To coordinate and implement preparedness activities for the application of epidemic control measures in designated locations if a suspected case is reported.
- To conduct epidemic investigation, identification of suspected cases and response
- To manage mild cases and refer sever cases to treatment centers according to epidemic cases management protocol
- Ensure and monitor clear referral pathway between Rapid Response Team (RRT) team and PHCC, the community, and other actors in the area
- Prepare all the necessary drugs, material and equipment for case management of outbreaks depend on the type of the outbreak and severity of the case
- Proper documentation of mild cases treated by the RRT and referrals
- Follow and ensure proper implementation of the basic medical rules of hygiene and infection prevention and control measures
- Keep always the RRT team tools clean and organized
- Ensure patient confidentiality is respected and treat all the patients with respect and dignity
- Build the capacity of MdM Community Outreach Volunteers (COVs) and community focal persons on epidemic surveillance and response
- To coordinate with MdM WASH partner (ACF) for a joint assessment when needed and support the implementation of aWASH related interventionns if requiredTo advise outbreak affected people on the implementation of the community and household epidemic preventive and response actions at household level case by case
- To maintain an overview of the overall epidemic situation in terms of prevalence, interventions, gaps, barriers, and challenges
- To ensure patient provides informed consent for treatment and referral even if only verbal.
Health education sessions
- Give health education sessions for outbreak affected people at community and household level
- Support/ build the capacity of COVs on standardizing key message on different types outbreak in collaboration with their Manager (Outreach Officer)
Collection, computerization and analysis of weekly epidemiological data
- Perform the daily data collection per alert/outbreak
- Participate to the weekly computerization and analysis
Reporting and attendance to different meetings
Prepare weekly activities report to submit to Outreach Officer
Essential Qualifications:
Nursing BS (+colloquium and work permit)
Desirable Qualifications:
Master’s in Public Health
Essential Experience:
Experience with epidemic surveillance and response mainly on cases management
Desirable Experience:
Experience working with an NGO is preferable, having a similar role
Note:
20 hours per week including working on weekends since this position is part of rapid response team.
Essential Competency:
- Fluent command of written and spoken Arabic and English
- Core knowledge of public health principles and techniques
- Working knowledge of the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon (health system) on epidemic surveillance and response
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to take initiative within a defined framework
- Flexible and creative
- Able to work under stress
